Boilerplate, assets, and a direct line to the founder — everything needed to write about Heliotype without waiting on a reply.
Boilerplate
Heliotype is a macOS menu-bar app that records meetings without a bot joining the call. It captures system audio through a CoreAudio process tap and the user's microphone, names each recording after the meeting on the user's calendar, and writes a speaker-labeled transcript beside the recording. Transcription runs on AssemblyAI under the user's own API key. Heliotype does not summarize meetings or extract action items — it hands clean, diarized text to whatever the user already uses for that, typically Claude or ChatGPT. There is no account, no telemetry, and no cloud dashboard: recordings and transcripts stay in a folder on the user's own Mac. Heliotype is a one-time purchase ($29 launch, $39 list) with a 14-day trial, requires an Apple Silicon Mac, and is available as a direct download at heliotype.app.
